ACTV8me

I designed and developed in support of the digital products at ACTV8me, a martech startup based in Beverly Hills, California that worked with brands such as AT&T, FOX, NBC, Warner Bros., and Univision among others. I was able to contribute to nearly all design deliverables: Android/iOS apps, business materials, documentation, content assets, websites and video.

Design

Audit and Organize

Moving very quickly at many angles the ACTV8me design team was hard-pressed to keep up, much less organize beyond the immediate. I began to note and update our design assets and files as I worked, slowly unifying the design language. I did the same with tooling and file structure.

From scattered files on the local network, Dropbox and Box to a controlled and distributed single source

Corporate Website

The corporate site was used as a business tool, living style guide and an access point to the primary internal and external dashboard platform. Less obvious, the website was a container where I designed and developed dozens of content and auxiliary web pages used in applications and marketing campaigns.

Home Page

We wanted to highlight ACTV8me's impressive partnership history so they take a leading role, supporting the high-level info points about the technology. The idea is a brief overview of the tech, an example of who has used it in the past and how the solution maybe used in the future.

About Page

The team consisted of some very talented people and the about page gave some brief background info and links to their professional social media. Having these details helps build credibility and provides potential outreach opportunities.

Press Page

Partnering with many well known brands and making strides technologically through its patents and platforms ACTV8me generated quite a bit of buzz. The press page captures some notable pieces and provides links to press releases.

I developed the site specifically in a way so that people relatively new to front-end development could easily update

Partials (Components)

I created a set of reusable components using HTML and SCSS. They had their own structures, lived on their own, were imported only when necessary and included visual conditions. This allowed for components to behave in different ways without maintaining serveral instances.

Dashboard

This tool binds all the ACTV8me technology and provides the core content management, trigger controls and data visualization for the flagship technology. It is also a data visualization tool, capturing user metrics all the way through the user journey. I was tasked with redesigning it to update the user experience and interface in tandem with a new codebase.

Corporate Decks

Decks were a very important tool for the business team to keep ACTV8me going and they sure did! I designed hundreds of decks in support of the product helping secure partnerships and trials from which we created even more decks, trials and parnerships.

Design

Partnership Decks

Sporadically I was assigned to design partnership decks for external distribution. This seemingly basic task quickly became complicated when merging two distinct visual styles. After an initial design and distribute round, I started creating style variables and mapping them to to mitigate or entirely prevent the initial difficulty I experienced from repeating.

A special challenge when sizes and software were different

Design

Special Decks

While they make look quite different than other decks, the special decks were designed on the same foundations. I particularly enjoyed designing these as they put my system to test.

Reflection

General Takeaway

I designed branding guides, decks, dashboards, icons, iOS and Android apps, websites and a system providing lots of technique enrichment and some hard lessons. I also got out of my comfort zone and got hands-on with Angular and React pushing my interface design and code comfort level while I actively infused business strategy into my design thinking. How design fit into the organization as a whole really became a focus and I began to anticipate and prepare for needs long before they became a ticket.
