Context. Oubly started as a customizable commerce platform and grew past basic e-commerce into a broader creative platform — the kind of early-stage environment that rewards range over specialization.
Work. The scope moved across the business as it grew: early concepts translated into the MVP launch, a dashboard UI for managing orders, inventory, and artwork, blog theming that gave the editorial side its own personality, email campaigns testing visual directions, premium stationery design (cards, invitations, full suites), and animated 404 pages built for a little empathy instead of a dead end. One project stood apart from the rest: converting a family member's handwriting into a custom typeface, done to honor someone who had passed.
Early-stage environments reward versatility, ownership, and thoughtful execution.
Outcome. Oubly's own evolution from simple e-commerce into a real creative platform tracked directly with the range of work this called for — and this project, John's first design job, is where that range started getting built.
